Dr. Weintraub completed medical, psychiatry residency, and geriatric psychiatry fellowship training at the University of Maryland. His areas of research interest include the psychiatric and cognitive complications of Parkinson’s disease, and he is the author of more than 100 journal articles, reviews, and book chapters.

Dr. Weintraub recently completed a NIMH Career Development Award titled “Depression Diagnosis and Treatment in Parkinson Disease”, and has been a Principal Investigator on grants from the VA, Penn, The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, and several industry-sponsored studies. He previously was Coordinating Investigator for a landmark multi-site international industry-sponsored study of the frequency and correlates of impulse control disorders in PD. Dr. Weintraub is on the Editorial Board of Movement Disorders, is on the Executive Committee of the Parkinson Study Group (PSG), has been a member of 4 Movement Disorder Society (MDS) task forces to revise and make recommendations for the assessment of cognitive and psychiatric symptoms in Parkinson’s disease, and was chair of the Psychiatry Subgroup of the NINDS Common Data Elements (CDE) project.
